Sharing our love of music, arts, and Dance since 2011 in Brooklyn, New YOrk
At Music Studio 78, we are a collective of professional performing artists who are passionate about sharing our love of the arts. We are committed to excellence in arts education, performance, and creative growth. We believe that creative enrichment is an essential element of one’s own pathway to success, that it is both reflection and resonance of the communities we belong to.
With a roster of worldclass performing arts faculty, we are uniquely positioned to prepare our students not only for exams and competitions, but for any stage they will walk on. Taking full advantage of New York’s abundant performance opportunities, our students become seasoned and accomplished performers and passionate contributors to the arts and society.
we prepare you for:
-
Located in Brooklyn NY, we enjoy home-turf advantage when it comes to the performing arts stages. Every year, our students have a wide range of performance opportunities in the NY and NJ areas.
We believe that stage performance is a skill, separate from studio training and solo practice. We believe that seasoned stage performers have a grounded confidence about them in the way they walk and approach every day life, and this confidence will stay with you, beyond your time with us. This, is priceless.
-
We recognize the importance of examinations as a way to determine milestones and qualify musical achievement, so we encourage our students to take part in official examinations.
As the world’s leading provider of graded music exams, the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) delivers over 650,000 assessments annually in 93 countries.
-
We believe that participating in competitions is an effective way to build musicianship and also to inspire greater achievement and learn through peers.
We also understand this to be a critical part of extra-curricular achievement in the US, when it comes to preparing for and qualifying for school admissions and awards.
As such, for interested students and parents, we encourage you to speak to your instructor about participating in competitions, and if you have an audition, we will certainly help you prepare for it, so that you are in the best shape possible.
we specialize in vocal arts (singing)
We are proud to be the only studio backed by a world-class caliber vocal team in our community. Regardless of heritage, singing is a cultural bond and pastime shared by all genders and ages. Whether you are taking lessons to discover the joys of singing, or to prepare for higher ambitions or examinations, at our studio, we focus and build upon your personal motivation, and shape that into artistic success.
Our Studio founder, Soprano Li Ying started her career by winning the Bronze Award in the national, "China Morning Star Singing Competition". Formerly a professor at Shenyang University, she pursued opera performance at the Brooklyn College of Music, and held a successful solo debut in New York in 2012.
Principal instructor, Pang Xuan, mezzo-soprano, is a graduate of the Central Conservatory of Music in China and Manhattan Conservatory of Music in New York. She holds the silver medal in the German Art Song category in the 2013 International Vocal Arts Competition, and has successfully held her solo debut. Her meticulous and patient teaching style encourages children to learn in a very warm and supported way.
Our guest teacher, soprano Yongzheng, is a young singer who has held an active career on Broadway for many years. She is currently part of the Lion King production. Her rich stage experience offers exciting insights which she brings into her classes.
Without passion, all the skill in the world won't lift you above craft. Without skill, all the passion in the world will leave you eager but floundering. Combining the two is the essence of the creative life.
